BABY BLANKETS and CLOTHES FROM SWEDEN Tack så mycket Sverige! Thank you Sweden! You efforts and generosity will benefit many mnay little babies. We received a large box of knitted baby blankets and clothes from a wonderful group of ladies in Sweden who knit for charity. This consignment of about 50 packets each with a baby blanket and a top was taken up by Rotarians at the meeting and will be given to places like Itsoseng, Little Jerusalem, the Bara paediatric unit in Soweto, and other clinics in the impoverished areas. Over and above this parcel 5 large pallets with a total mass of 700kg containing more arrived a month ago via DHL but, as customs in SA are strict on the import of blankets and clothes, this consignment was impounded and kept in the state warehouse. We have spent time trying to get import permits and relief and, with the assistance of some customs officials and in particular DHL (who have also waived storage costs), the consignment should be delivered this week.
